Marbella

Marbella, a private gate-guarded community, has 230 homes, mostly custom, including some huge estates. There are 44 semi-custom homes and 100 condos and, at the time of this writing, four empty lots. Most homes enjoy a golf course view.

The Country Club golf course is both beautiful and challenging with a par 70 slope rating and four sets of tee boxes per hole. A couple of realtor friends of mine play the course all the time.

I have attended parties and beautiful weddings over the years at Marbella Country Club. The beautiful Olympic-sized 25-meter pool is great to work out in if you are a swimmer, or to cool off in during the summer. There is an inter-club swim team for children ages 6 to 17. Also, there are six tennis courts. Both men’s and ladies’ tennis teams complete with other clubs. Many activities throughout the year include an annual Easter egg hunt, Christmas boutiques, visits from Santa, a Halloween party and a Cinco de Mayo celebration.

My friend Tamara likes to kid me about the fact that Marbella has become very kid-friendly over the years with lots of families having moved in. I remember Marbella being built, with its many empty lots, very few homes and avid retired golfers with their golf carts being the rule way back when. Okay, okay, Tamara, it’s now a wonderful mix of both!
